My mother loved Fairy Tales*2. Her youth in Pittsburgh, Great Depression – was in fact not loverly. Her father abandoned her beautiful petite mother and thus the three daughters. Her mother, Hazel, five foot, long hair, a great cook – but there was little to cook  –  Hazel had a terrible temper – and who was there to absorb the pain? The two youngest children, from fists whapping into them, to having hair gabbed and heads slammed into the floor. The first escaped early. My mother and Mickey survived. So my mother read Fairy Tales, played in Riverview Park, and dreamed of a better life.

She dreamed of a better life – for herself, Valerie Mern Bonzer, aka. VB, Miss. B.
